Z4 Automatic Convertible Top help, help
I have a Z4 convertible loaner for the weekend but don't know how to
put the convertible top down. I lowered the thing in the trunk, but
when I press the top down button, an orange light comes on
constantly while I have the button pushed.....we have tried a ton of
things but it still doesn't work.....help, help.

Not familiar with the Z4, but I had a Z3 loaner last year.
With the Z3, you have to have the brake pedal fully depressed ( and the
key in position 2, IIRC) before you touch the top-down button. As far a
I know, this is the case with all BMW convertibles.. FWIW.
HTH and have a fun-filled weekend on the Z4.

Not valid for E30. Here you have to release the top roof hooks at the front
window frame first, then push the roof up, until the front part of the roof
stays up at a 30 deg. ankle. Then you may push the button. This works only
if the car is standing and the trunk lid is closed.

Re: Z4 Automatic Convertible Top help, help
I fixed it.....apparently the "put the top down switch"
doesn't work....took it to the dealer today and the
service department was closed (saturday) and the salesman
said, "it doesn't work". So we tugged, wrenched and
pulled and it finally went down.....more on my Z4 opinion
later....had too many Heineken's now to write more...

NOPE, you only need the ignition on and to make sure the trunk/boot space
saver is in the correct position to let the roof down.
