XG350 owners-you'll get a kick out of this

Yesterday, I drove to a health food store with my 87 year old mother,
who has some dementia. Even though I tell her that I'm going into the
store and I'll be right back, she sometimes forgets and panics, not
knowing where I am. Consequently, I try not to leave her in the car but
when I have to, it's only for a few minutes. Most of the time, she's
happy as a clam listening to a Frank Sinatra CD. Yesterday, was a panic
day. I was in the store, had just checked out, and there's an
announcement over the loud speaker "Will the owner of a white Infinity,
license plate number xxxxxxx, please come to the front desk." I didn't
hear the license # because I was panicked about my mother and even
though they said Infinity, I KNEW this was about her. I ran out to the
parking lot and there were a few people surrounding my mother who was
holding court. Anyway, she was fine especially when she saw me, so I
thanked everyone for helping my mother, and for thinking my car was an
Infinity. EVERYONE laughed. I don't know why I should be surprised, I
always felt it looked like an Infinity .

I had a similar incident with my Sonata a few years ago. Somone asked me about
my JAGUAR. Boy did I feel good that day!

I thought you had planned on selling it. What happened?

My husband gets a laugh when we hear "The Owner of the Lexus SUV
license # xxxxxx please return to your vehicle". It is our Santa Fe
    getting a delivery.

Hi Briggs, how are ya?! The focus of topics have changed a lot on this
newsgroup since around February, have you noticed? In any event, yes,
had planned to sell it for the convenience of a smaller car, but I
became overwhelmed when my disabled brother, who lives in L.A., had a
very disappointing recurrence of lymphoma, and his disabled wife,
received a diagnosis of breast cancer. They live independently but I do
take care of them in life, incl. their finances, day to day crises, AND
do the same for this character of a mother of mine who lives just a few
minutes from me, thank goodness, in Mission Viejo. Overwhelm, that's
what happened. So Plan B is to keep the car for a couple of years and
see what happens. Still like the car very much. My biggest complaint
really, is the inefficient venting of air conditioning in the back seat.
It really provides no more benefit than if there wasn't a vent.

I have the same problem being in super market parking lots. What year is
    that Lincoln LS?

Not that I exactly feel "responsible", but since I was one of the ra-ra
folks touting the XG350 way back when, I feel better that you don't regret
    your decision.
BTW - you did see this week that Hyundai is #2 in the value survey?

I remember that you had that paint issue with your dealer - is everything
else going at least reasonably smoothly now? If not, when you're in LA again
and close to Glendale, maybe check out Hovick (service writer) at Glendale
Hyundai. I've been very happy (but then I've probably used my winning
personality to ingratiate myself...). Seriously, since I've been reasonable
in non-critical repair situations, they/he has reciprocated.

As for the rear vent - my 7 year old is the main recepient and experiences
it's deficiencies or strengths more than me.

I feel I "stole" this beautiful car of mine, that I wish was a little
smaller. Yes, you, as well as a couple of others, had a tremendous
influence on my decision to buy Hyundai. You provided a grounding
presence throughout the entire process of asking my initial questions
about Hyundai's reliability to the day I bought the car, rushing back
home on a Sunday from the middle of a negotiation, to ask how you would
suggest I proceed. I can't tell you how much I appreciated this.

Yes, yes I did. I thought our plan was to keep this a secret?

I never did anything about the paint, and no other problems have
occurred. Yes, disappointed over local dealer and the dealer where I
purchased car, in regard to paint.
