    won't rev over 2k

I have a 95 max with 5 speed. It starts and idles perfectly. When
accelerating in any gear it will cut out and then begin to buck like crazy
as soon as it hits 2000 rpm. Doesn't seem to be dependant on load at all
just rpm. Below 2000 rpm it runs smoothly. In neutral you can floor the
accelerator and it will just bounce between 2000 and about 2300 rpm. The
problem doesn't trigger any trouble codes. Any help would be greatly
    appreciated. TIA

I have a Sentra which exhibited the same symptoms. Turned out to be
    the Mass Air Flow Sensor.

The mass air flow sensor (MAF or MAS) is dead. The main computer (ECU)
is in failsafe limp home mode which won't let the car rev past 2000 rpm.
Before replacing the part, remove it physically (it is between the air
filter and plenum..square black box with wires/plug coming out of it..)

Try to clean it with a non residue cleaner..and check the grounding
point.. Maxima MAF's are notorious for grounding issues..one of the
dealership bulletin's is to wire in an alternate ground for 3rd
    generation 89-94 and 4th generation 95-1999 maximas's
