winch/ lift 05 tj
Folks,
Just had a warn winch installed on my 05 tj. Garage suggests a lift package
next. $1250 for a package deal. $750 for the 4 inch suspension lift, and
$500 for labor.
Do I have to do this? If so, then what company would you recommend for the
parts, ie Quadratec has several lift kits available and I am totally
confused.
thanks

Re: winch/ lift 05 tj
You do not need to lift just because you installed a winch.

A winch does not mean you need a lift. You need a lift to clear bigger
tires. You need bigger tires if you want to do anything beyond mild
4-wheeling. You can go mild to wild. I hope for $750 you are getting all new
springs and everything. You would probably do fine with a 2-3" spring spacer
kit and 32" tires. This would cost considerably less as you would keep your
original springs and only install a spacer and new shocks, drop brackets,
ect.
Also note that any lift over about 2-3" will need a Slip-Yoke elimintor and
CV driveshaft. About $4 to 500 for parts + installation.
