Hyundai: Why are Sonata parts so expensive?

Had a minor accident in my '04 Sonata, so thought I would price a few
parts. Over $400 for a truck lid and $198 for a tail light??? This
isn't a BMW! I ended up going to a body shop, and got an estimate for
over $2000 for a minor accident (I guess it's not so minor if you have
a Sonata)

If it is a BMW, you would have to pay twice the amount if not more. The
price you mentioned here is reasonable especially for 2004.
