Corvette: What's wrong with 1985's?

What's wrong with 1985's?
As a habit, I look through Auto Trader on a far too frequent basis,
and it seems '85's are always priced lower than older and newer
'Vettes.
I don't care much for the C4s, but to each his own. Just kind of
strange how much lower they are priced than others (sub $7000).

Re: What's wrong with 1985's?
Rough ride..very poor workmanship...very unrefined eary model..took a couple
of more years to get it better....almost as bad as the ceasefire 1984
models. ( although some people consider the 1984 as a unique collectable
...like a Yugo type mentality )

I thought the '84s were called "Misfire".

Let us not forget that the crossfire injection was in the 82 and 84 model
years just to keep the facts straight.

Re: What's wrong with 1985's?
My car has been in storage for about 3 weeks now, and I took it out because
I wanted to change the oil before I put it away permanently. After jacking
it up and changing the oil, I noticed that there is what looks like
condensation on the outside of the tube that comes from the top of the
radiator into the engine block. It isn't water, and feels like oil or
grease. Any ideas?

I had an 84 and enjoyed it. It was totally different than my 93, but in
handled like it was on rails. Never had a problem with the Crossfire
Injection.

Antifreeze has a very oily feel to it. Just a thought.

Re: What's wrong with 1985's?
My 85 had several problems: automatic transmission went out, ignition
failed, both power windows failed, and a head gasket leak. When the 85 came
out one car magazine said "the 85 is the car that the 84 should have been"
And it was, just different problems.

Re: What's wrong with 1985's?
I had an 85, which I got with fairly high mileage, I did a fair amount of
maintenance work on it but I loved it. I'd get another no worries. I'd
just go for a bit lower mileage. It certainly set me up to want to have
another corvette. I traded it in on two cars when I remarried. The
marriage lasted seven months. I still have one of the cars 6-7 years later.
I'm easing back into the market for another Vette. I don't plan on
remarrying again any time soon.
