    Whats happened to this group?

I remember when I was a frequent visitor a few years ago it was a hotbed of
discussion. What's happened? I used to love hearing Messers Duffin, Miller
et al's tales of pub crawls, the razor wit of Tiger Racing, the infectious
enthusiasm of MC and the dedication of Tifosi308. Where's it all gone?!!
What's happened? Has everyone defected to another group?

Well Shark, it's like this. Even lunatic fringe members of this
gathering, like myself, have lives. Not that my version is likely to
set any kind of example relative to achievement, responsibility, or role
modelship, but even Crazy Mike has things to do, places to see, people
    to kill, etc.

This group is indeed strange in the way activity ebbs and flows. Not
all of us, in fact less than half of the regular 8 posters, I think, own
Ferraris. (I might be wrong. But not when I state that *I* do not have
one.) None of us, with the exception of Thomas and the possible
exceptions of MCPD, Matt, Tiger and AngryMark, are real computer
chatboard geeks. (That is almost all of us, actually. But I know I'm
not). We all love cars, other marques definitely included. We're just
more passionate about the Rosso Corsa, but I don't see a lot of ranting
and raving anymore like there might have been in the past or there might
be in other groups like the F1 group. I don't have a chime going off
when a new post hits AAF. If anybody does, they probably shouldn't
    admit to it, either.

We're all getting very old, as well. Thus the "in and out door" nature
    of this group.

My trip was good. Too much fucking driving. I ended going just about
1,300 miles total, on a hair over a hundred gallons of gas, at a cost of
around $250. Pretty good mileage, really, but the truck scared the shit
out of me ninety percent of the time on the interstate. It had all the
wind resistance of a sheet of plywood. It was an endurance event I
didn't really need and the wind and blowing dust at the festival and all
along my driving routes turned my eyes into blurred slits through which
I saw very little at times. The concert event was great. I've never
seen so many women in one place - many of them scantily and alluringly
clad - as I did on Saturday, probably because of Coldplay. But overall
it was the oldtimers (Bauhaus, Gang of Four and New Order) along with
Nine Inch Nails that blew the place away, IMO. I've never heard as
sonically excelllent a music set as the ninety minutes or so Trent
served up on Sunday night. Awesome.

I watched Sunday's race with some trepidation. The Ferrari effort seems
cursed. And again having to listen to Ralph Sheheen vomit all over the
proceedings hurt my stomach. (I think it was Button's car pulling away
from the pits mildly aflame, and here's Ralph: "That's pretty
EXCESSIVE!") I feel like this is Renault's year.

We've not defected. I think we come here more to talk amongst friends
that talk about the cars. Nothing wrong with that, but that's just the
way it seems. There are so many other places (some of which i visit)
that people gather to talk about the cars, the cars, and more about the
cars that it almost seems that I get my fill there and come here just to
check in with my old friends.

Ain't that the truth. I know that when Tiger and I were (dare I borrow
a line from Sex and the City) "Single and Fabulous!" (or was that
"Single and Fabulous?") that we both used to come by more often. Those
days are behind us both (thankfully) and we actually have a life!

Used to be one. Used to spend a lot of time on RASF1 but now that place
is cesspool. Now I limit myself to the occasional drop in here, lots of
lurking on "Ferrarichat" and the occasional post on "Big Soccer".

We all love cars, other marques definitely included. We're just

As I wrote above, RASF1 is a nightmare now. I don't even bother.

    I don't have a chime going off

Very old? Yeah, i guess we are.

I've stopped going to those gatherings for fear of turning into
    Professor Humbert Humbert.

    But overall

I've got two spares for X at the Pacific Amp in July, wanna come?

Jarno Trulli I think. Reminded me of good old Heinz Harold at the
    Hunagaroring once upon a time.

I don't know, Kimi looked pretty dominant, but with this friggin' points
system it'll take some doing to undo 'nando. Cheeseburger Boy must be
feeling like he made a bad choice.
