Lexus: What to check when purchasing used vehicle?

In general terms, what should I check when purchasing a used, 10 yr.
old Lexus? Besides checking the vin# with carfax and taking it to a
garage, what else should I check? Also, should I take it to a garage
that specializes in Toyotas/Lexus, or should I take it to a general
garage?

Check where it came from and where it's been (do a title history). In June
of 2001 Houston, TX had over 30,000 cars damaged (flooded) in Tropical
Storm Allison. You DON'T want a flood car no matter how good the deal
sounds.
