What to check in '94 GS 300? Good price?
I'm thinking of purchasing a '94 GS 300 with 67,000 miles for $6500 and I
wanted to know what I should check before buying it. The car itself looks
almost perfect except for a few details:
1) There's a small paint chip in the left rear door the size of a dime (that
little piece of the car doesn't have any paint on it - it's black).
2) the power window mechanism in the left rear door is not working.
3) the driver's seat mechanism to move the seat back and front doesn't work.
Regarding the transmission and engine, who should I take it to so they check
the whole automobile? Is it possible to do such a thorough check that will
guarantee that the car is in good condition? IS it possible to check if the
odometer has been rolled back? I just want don't want to make a $6500
mistake. Finally, is $6500 a good price? And is it a reliable car?
Thanks.

It sounds old, tatty and expensive to me (UK) No inspection can guarantee
condition. Go to a dealer and get one where everything works, the book is
stamped by lexus dealers, and the car is guaranteed.
By comparison I have a very late 96 GS300, unmarked, FLSH, 37,000 miles.
Nothing is faulty. I paid 6,400 GBP for that almost a year ago, it seemed
dear at the time (to me), but the condition justifies the price. The one
you ask about has neither condition nor price, by the sound of it.
