Wet Trunk on my 2006 Malibu!

I had to change a flat tire the other day and when I the person that was
helping me got to the place where the spare tire was it had about 2" of
water in it! Where could this come from?

Could be a torn seal or bent flange. The flange is the mating area that
the seal closes against. Easy way to check for seal on trunk lid leaking
is to use some cooking oil applied to the ENTIRE flange; carefully close
the trunk lid slowly until it latches.....DO NOT SLAM. Open and see if
the seal has oil on the ENTIRE seal perimeter. If there are any dry areas
on the seal, that is probably where your leak is occuring. The fix is to
bend/spring the flange so that it touches the seal and you can see that
oil is coating the seal in the dry area.
You may have to coat the flange a second time depending on how heavy the
cooking oil is that you are using. Always coat the flange and not the
seal as the oil is easy to see on the seal and not the flange.

Also, a leak can be coming from below, so remove the carpet and check
around there for a missing plug or a split seam especially around fender
wells and the spare tire well if you have one.
    Good luck,
    MR

The Onstar antenna causing leak. If the antenna is
on the rear of the car, that may be it. Dealer would
be a good place to go. Or remove and re-seal
the antenna yourself, assuming you have Onstar, otherwise, maybe the radio
    antenna.
