I don't have experience with Avalons, but every car I've ever owned had
small holes (usually rectangular) in the bottom of the door where the door
skin attached. They're small, so easily blocked by dirt. (or if the window
was replaced, a bit of broken glass will help the dirt build up at the
holes) Easily cleared with a piece of thin wire. Any time you wash a car,
you will normally see a water stream from a few points at the bottom of the
doors. It's from a bit of water getting by the window rubber.
