    tyre wear

    evening all

I have a Mk 2.5 1,8Is and I just got through a pair of rear tyres in
    21,000 mile ( the original Bridgestones ) I've replace them with a
pair of Avons. can anyone tell me how long these are likely to last ?

is 21000 a reasonable life for OE tyres ??

    thanks

Yes, especially if you don't rotate them. Driven aggressively, the rears
wear about twice as fast as the fronts. Rotate at every oil change for
best life; that way, you'll be replacing all four at once as a matched
set, which is important for balanced handling on a car this sensitive to
    tires.

I would check the DOT tire wear rating on the side-wall to get a comparisson
    of the expected tread life.

Wearing them out is the fun part!
