Nissan Maxima: Types of trans

    Types of trans

    Im looking for a new trans for my maxima but there are 2 types Locking and
    no locking differential. How would one know what type they have?

    the trans you need.

    If you post some specifics about your Max (year, model, trim level, etc.)
    somebody here might recognize it and be able to tell you what you need.

    Find the vehicle data plate, it is under the hood.

    look for the transmission model number it should be something like RE40 ...

    if the letter V is at the end of the trans model number it has what's called
    a Viscous coupled differential or LSD (limited slip diff.)
