Honda: two personalities

two personalities
My 1992 Civic LX seems to have a personality disorder. Sometimes the car is
lively and peppy and does exactly as I expect it should. Other times it is
sluggish, hesitant, and a pain to drive. It often hesitates to go from a
stop, getting "bogged down" when I give it more gas. After about 5 seconds
the car perks up and does what it should. I also have trouble keeping
highway speeds, especially on the slightest of inclines. I have gotten new
plugs, wires, and a gas filter. Anyone have any experience with timing belt
troubles giving those symptoms? My friend has a '95 with similar milage
which behaves much more consistently and more peppy than my own.
Thanks,
Joe

Falling asleep through Joe's post...
Timing belt is a one way beast in this case. Once it goes, it's gone.

If there are more than 125K on it, I'd think about the 'ignitor' in the
distributer. bob
