    temp gauge

hi all, have '95 lumina car that has temp gauge stuck in hot
zone; 'hot' light also on, though the car is not overheated. it has
been suggested that i have a bad 'temp sending unit'. any thoughts,

    Re: temp gauge

Either that or the wire has gotten pinched under a cover or something else
is causing a direct ground. Unplug the wire at the temp sender and if the
light goes out and the gauge returns to cold then replace the sender. If not
then follow the wire along as far as you can looking for a pinch or the
insulation burned or chafed off causing a ground.

Since both the light and the gauge are effected the problem is common to
both and not a bad gauge.
