Styling Differences C5 vs. C6
I'm new to Corvettes. Interested in purchasing C5 or C6. Can someone tell me the major styling differences between the two. Are they functional or cosmetic?
Thanks

No one knows for sure except the engineers working on the C-6.

GM has said quite a bit, like the headlamps will be fixed on C6, it
will be shorter and narrower but with a longer wheel base, the basic
hydroformed rails will stay, horsepower and wheel size will incerase.
A local dealer has seen one and he says the interior is more
"European" in quality, that is richer feeling. And just like the C5,
they worked hard to reduce the number of components in order to
increase reliability.
Unless you have fallen in love with a C5, you might wait till the C6s
are out since the prices for any C5s on the lots wil fall further I
bet. Though the discounts on the 03 04 Vettes on the lots now are
pretty good. Then you'll have your choice.
There are some good sites for spy photos too. Try some of these out

Re: Styling Differences C5 vs. C6
Speculation I've read so far leans toward cosmetic. The C5 was such a quantum improvement over any previous generation, it doesn't seem like there will be any major functional breakthroughs for a while.

Stylist, I'm not (difficulty drawing a straight
line with a ruler). But I'd rate the headlights
as a major functional change. Many of the C6
styling features look like they will contribute
to increased body panel stiffness. (Bowling
Green is getting good at this.) But, judging
the functionality of other attributes will be
dependent on getting hands-on with the car
and feeling how these changes contribute to
purpose, visibility, comfort, position, noise etc.
My overall impression is of a package that is
better integrated and "drawn together" than
other recent vettes. (To me, C4s looked larger
than they were, C5s were better integrated
and I think the C6 will improve on that. Not a
copy of the Z3/Z4 but having that snug,
personal-car look.) This car, more than the
C5 says, "strap me on and let's ride." And, I
like the return to big round taillights--nice
trademark--nice statement!
To me, the rear deck depression comes off
better in the photos than it did in the written
descriptions. I need to see the rear end with
a license plate installed.
