    Stays in 1st gear

i bought a 1995 eclipse and wanted to know if anyone knew why it only stays
in 1st gear. It only has 130,000 miles so i know the tranmisson is still
    good. Any ideas?

Assuming your transmission is good becuase your car "only" has 130,000 miles
on it is like saying your house can't burn down because it's only 60 years
old. The two have nothing in common. New transmissions break.
Transmissions that should have died a long time ago keep on going.

I don't know how these transmissions are controlled, but I'd bet there's
something wrong with it... or the electronics driving it. There really
aren't too many more options, and based solely on my observations of other
items, the electronics usually outlast the mechanicals when they're not
designed to operate at their limits.

look on the this site: http://www.importperformancetrans.com

He is really good with dsm transmissions. Before someone totalled 96 I had
his shift kit and other AT mods.

    Try it...
