Starting to restore a '72 convertable

I have a '72 convertable i am the 3rd owner (second owner was my
father in law), right now it is all original. Where is the best place
to find info on what to do and not to do, so that the car keeps it
value. It is an automatic, with ac.

    Problems with car.

1.needs new weather striping all around.

2.needs new carpet (faded in places, couple of tears in it)

3.Paint has a few chips in it, and a couple of places where it is
    spiderwebing.

4.rear bumper has some small rust spots on it.

5.AC works and Heater works but only blows on low, and med, if you put
it on high it hardly blows at all.

    6. wood pannel around center concole is damaged

    7. a few stitches seem out on the leather seats.

    8. red and black colors in some of the emblems are faded out.

    I apprecate any sugestions.

respond to group or email at adam@'removethisnospam'southerndales.net

    thanks

Well, Adam, sounds like a pretty solid car! Mid american can supply about
all you need, http://www.madvet.com/ As well as Corvette Central
http://www.corvettecentral.com/ For technical help also check out
www.corvetteforum.com or www.corvetteactioncenter.com There are plenty of
books written about what to do and how and both parts suppliers have them as
    well!

    Adam:

The first thing you need to do is rob a bank or a fairly busy convenience
store. Then you can contact Corvette Central, Mid America, etc., etc.

Mid America or Corvette Central sell replacement weather stripping.

    Ditto for the carpet.

Spot sander and touch-up paint, or a new paint job.

Spot sander and "chrome" touch-up paint, or remove it and have it
    re-chromed.

Replacement motor or switch available from Corvette Central.
Mid America or Corvette Central sells replacements.

Replacement emblems, or appropriately colored nail polish.

The red is probably GM Brite Red.

Considering that it's all original, check with the local NCRS chapter.
They probably can give you good info on proper repair/replacement
    practices.

I had a 72 coupe, all the same stuff. Replace the faded emblems,
weatherstrips, and that stuff with either nos or repro stuff. The blower
problem is usually the hi blower relay. check for power at the purple wire
at the resistor with the switch in hi. Jump the relay to proof the
problem.BTW, that should be a 4 speed switch in that car.
