I've just bought an Eunos roadster. Japanese owners manual?! Why does it
beep for 10sec when the ignition is switched on?

Definitely seat belt alarm.
Doesn't a seatbelt light light up on the dashboard as well? It should do. If
not there's something wrong with your display panel - check the fuse etc.
