Security recommendation? 2000 Civic EX Manual

Hi guys. I need your help. My darling with only a few thousand miles on her
was almost boosted. The only thing that saved her is the fact that I park
like a girl, and had my wheels turned in and the wheel locked. I didn't do
that intentionally, I just parked poorly. But it saved her. The beasts
reamed out the ignition and ripped off all the plastic on the steering
    column. They got in by sticking something into the top of the window guide;
you can see the vertical scrape.

Well, the dealer put her back together. Now I need some securty...or peace
of mind. I thought a starter kill would be great...but a manual can be push
started. I bought the club, but that can be broken. So I am looking for
something that offers me security to put my mind at ease. What packages
would you reccommend? I looked at DEI, saw some nice things there. One has
a starter kill and big transponder keychain so you can see which part of
your car is being broken into. I want something to prevent the car from
going. Does someone still make a fuel cutoff? A better starter kill?

Or, maybe I should just boot my car.

Anyways, any discussion or advice you can offer would be greatly
appreciated. I haven't looked into a security system since the 80's, so I
    am trying to re-educate myself!
    Thanks,
    Kimmie

im not too sure on this, but i think you should beable to set it up, check
with a local alarm installer, but instead of hooking the starter kill to the
starter, hook it too the fuel pump, worth a try

Re: Security recommendation? 2000 Civic EX Manual

I did some research tonight and found a better club with an alarm. I also
saw talk of "hood cable locks". I have some questions now. Is there a kit
for a fuel pump cutoff that I can buy on the net and have installed in
town? I seriously doubt the stores around here carry such a thing. My other
question is about the hood cable. How exactly does that work? Can you open
the hood a little, the unlock it? Is that how it works?
    Thanks,
    Kimmie

Find the fuse that handles the electronic fuel injection and pull it out.
That should shut the fuel flow off.

    Hi Kimmie,

Have you checked with any reputable alarm installers to see what they would
recommend? Alarms are often no more than noise makers and is a DETERRENT to
theft. Also a starter kill is still an excellent option - you can check
with the alarm/security specialist about the possibility of push starting
it. Often when someone tries to steal a car they want to get it quick. A
starter kill would at least slow them down if not stop them. If you combine
that with the Club, it'll take them even more time. Keep in mind the alarm
is probably blaring while they are trying to get around the club, and THEN
the starter kill. By this time they would probably look for an easier
    target.

Bottom line is if someone really really really wants the car they can
probably get it. What you want to do is deter the attempt in the first
place and if the idiot still wants to try - don't make it easy for them.

    Good luck,
    -David

what i was talking about is getting a normal car alarm with a starter kill,
but instead of hooking it too the starter, hook it too the wiring for the
fuel pump, so that when the alarm is set off, it kills power to the fuel
pump. Im not quite sure that it can be done this easily but it should be,
    same principle.

also, install a secondary siren INSIDE the car, under the dash, so if they
break in, they have about 120 dB of noise to deal with while trying to get
rid of your club and starter kill, as David said, dont make it easy for them
