Restore engine restorer
Has anyone tried this product?? I was thinking about using some, but
I heard that it can do more harm than good.

SOmoene in one of the other newsgroups said he has used it in many
vehicles and has checked compression before and after. He said that
in about 90% of the cases it has brought the compression back up to
"like new". Example, one cyl might be 90 psi before and after it's
back to 130 psi. After is after about 500 miles of driving with the
stuff in the oil. He also said it's of no value if the engine is not
showing signs of wear, i.e., if the compression is already good and
it's not burning oil, etc. I tried it in a couple of vehicles that
really didn't have any problems and didn't notice any difference. I
also put it, along with several other repair-in-a-can products as well
as a couple small mechanical repairs in an old toyota that supposedly
had a blown head gasket. The car went from running like a 3 legged
dog to running like new. I did so many small things that there is no
way to know which was the key item, if any.

I used it once in a '69 GT with about 130K on the 351W. After about
300 miles I noticed that it ran a bit better and burned less oil. And I
noticed less smoke out the back when I got on it.
A year or so later I rebuilt the engine. When I took the engine
apart, three of the ring were broken on three different pistons, and
just fell off the pistons when I pulled them out. I also had two bent rods.

Snake oil. Nothing can replate worn parts.
