    Radiator Leak on 93 740 (E32)

I have a small leak in my radiator. It appears to be coming from behind a
plastic grommet. Are products such as Bar's Stop Leak safe to use on these
radiators? If not, is there any type of sealants that are?

I am not sure I would put my faith in sealant for a plastic radiator. My
idea is that the plastic is rotting, and you should get a new radiator
    before it fails entirely.

For the record, I failed to notice that my radiator was seeping, and when it
suffered a catastrophic failure on a mountain road with no shoulders and I
had to drive for about a mile before I could get off the pavement in a spot
large enough for a tow truck to fit into, I had done serious and expensive
    damage to the cylinder head.

You should replace that radiator while you can still drive, and avoid the
    costly mistake I made.

No, they are not safe. Coolant in use in aluminum engines has a lot
of additives for anti-corrosion; adding anything *BUT* the proper
    coolant is asking for trouble.

Besides, these junky aluminum/plastic monstrosoties are cheap, and
once it starts leaking on a seam, it'll only get worse.
