Ford: Question: 89 Tbird check engine

Please help. I have an 89 T-Bird LX with a 3.8 liter and digital dash.
Intermittently when at idle the check engine light will come on and
sometimes display a FFS in the fuel display window. The car seems to
be running OK at these times (maybe sparingly at a rough idle). Any
suggestions would be welcome! Thanks in advance
