Qs from a 1st time New BMW Owner
All Beemer experts
This is my first BMW purchase and hence the silly Qs.....hope someone
can help me.
I have ordered 325 xi that will be made in Germany (I think) in
September for a early Oct delivery. It is a 2004 model.
#1) Does any one know if the single CD player that comes with the car
play mp3 files?
#2) What is a good 'break in' period before I take it on a 250 mile
freeway trip?
#3) Any particular 'premium' fuel brand that is preferred?
Thanks
Mandar

Unless it says clearly in the description that is plays MP3s, I think you
are out of luck.
I am thinking the 250 mile freeway trip would be the best way to break it
in.
I use Chevron or 76. I have filled up with Shell a few times too. I really
cant tell any difference in performance or fuel economy between them.

Wrong. They recommend varying the engine speed for the first 1200 miles,
so a freeway is *not* recommended for breakin. You are also not supposed
to exceed 3500rpm for the first 1200 miles, IIRC (might be shorter than
that).
The manual (you can download them from bmwusa.com) is pretty good.

Tha manual says do not exceed 4500 rpm. I broke mine in driving in between
3K and 4.5k.
You can put a cd/mp3 changer in the trunk. I have the Kenwood and got it
and the adapter for under $450 from www.logjamelectonics. It was a snap to
put in.
Wrong is what this guy is.

You're right - 4500rpm not 3500. It's been two years so you have to excuse
me.

You seem to imply that everything I said was wrong. Except for the rev
limit,
I don't see anything bad here. A freeway trip where you're speeding up and
slowing down is not going to endear a driver to the rest of the public -
city
driving and lightly travelled roads where you can do this safely and w/o
disturbing others is preferred, IMO.
