Corvette: Pro-Team Corvette rocks!

Pro-Team Corvette rocks!
I've heard some of you guys say that you think Pro-Team Corvette Sales in Napoleon OH is somewhat overpriced. Well, I'm here to tell you that you pretty much get what you pay for. Here's the story: I bought my 68 from them on June 4th. One of the conditions of the sale was to convert the car to C3 style side exhaust before delivery. When the car showed up, I could tell that they did a real nice job of closing up the holes on the rear valance and they matched the paint perfectly. However, I wasn't all that thrilled with the pipes that they put on the car. I didn't do or say anything at the time, but it was bugging me. Finally, over 3 MONTHS later, I sent them an email telling them that I wasn't happy with the pipes. The next day I got a phone call from the salesman that sold me the car (Mike Chilcote), and he told me that they would make me happy. I figured sure, salesman BS, and I would never hear from them again. I came home from work one night about a week later and there's a brand new set of pipes in my driveway. A couple of days after that I got an email from the President of the company (Terry Michaelis) asking me if the situation was handled to my satisfaction. Now here's a company that stands behind the products that they sell. What other "used car dealer" would do something like that? No questions, no problems, they just fixed it...3 months after the car was bought and paid for. These guys (Pro-Team) have certainly earned one hell of a good reputation as far as I'm concerned. I would recommend them to anybody without hesitation. Like I said, I'm sure you could pay less elsewhere, but you're going to get exactly what you pay for, nothing more.

Diode,
That is a incredible story. I also have heard the story that Pro-Team has a reputation for being over priced, but as you say you get what you pay for. I will remember this and for sure tell anyone that I know of your good fortune, glad to hear they really made the deal "RIGHT"
If you don't mind sharing what type of pipes did they put on the first time and what did they send you the second time?
Thanks,
Dave

Dave:
No, I don't mind sharing. The first set of pipes weren't brand new. That in itself didn't bother me so much, but one side had an odd bend just before the baffle section. The bend made it hang a little low below the cover and I didn't like the way it looked. The ones they sent me were brand new and still in the box from the manufacturer. When I put them on they fit perfectly and look (and sound) great. Helpful hint here...before I put them on, I painted them with a product called POR-20. You may have heard of POR-15. That's the black goop that you paint over rust on places like the chassis. It traps the rust and stops it from getting worse. The POR-20 is high temperature, aluminum looking paint. It's good up to 1400 degrees. That will keep the new pipes looking new virtually forever. Back to the other thing though, I can't say enough good things about Pro-Team. The car was EXACTLY as advertised, no surprises. I wasn't able to go see the car before I bought it (long story). Based on the Bloomington judging sheets Pro-Team sent me, the fact that I know somebody that bought a car from them and was quite satisfied and mostly because of their reputation, I was comfortable buying the car from them sight unseen. I wasn't disappointed. I have some nice pictures if you're interested.

How long have you had that? I think it was there when I was in there in
April/May 2002 looking at a 72 convertible. They are about 30 miles from me
and about 7 miles from the farm where I was born.

That would be about right. I started looking at it in May and finally
bought it on June 4. When you saw the car it didn't have the side pipes
though. They put those on right before they delivered the car to me.
Looked nice up close, didn't it? The only real "issue" with the car is that
the carpeting is toasted (Arizona car). That's getting replaced in the
spring.

Re: Pro-Team Corvette rocks!
Diode, that car looks very clean from the pic, white wall tires and all.
The color looks good also, not your typical , black, white , red, and yes
yellow early C3.
