6x9s are generally designed to work in an large volume enclosure
(ie.something the size of a typical car boot) so doing this will
probably have a negative effect, as you're further reducing the size
of an already smaller than normal mounting enclosure.

You will almost certainly benefit though from applying a decent amount
of soundproofing material (ie. dynamat or similar) around the speaker
mounting location, and on the back of the outer door skin. This should
remove a lot of resonance from the panels, which will help improve the
    sound quality.

    cheers jon
not exactly what i was hoping for but thanks anyway...I will see wha
    they sound like
just so i can justify spending 3.5 days butchering me pug like
crazyboy..i wil take your advice & soundproof as best i can...i shoul
point out that the speakers will not sit inside the metalwork of th
door as the oem`s did due to the way i constructed ne
mountings.......... the magnet only just (by a whisker) protruds pas
the rear plate (mdf 12mm)so i should be able to practicly enclose the
totaly.....anyway thanks again for the advice i will fiddle aplenty an
see what i can come up with..
