PING DAVID FISHER..RALF PUNISHED FOR PILE-UP

    http://www.itv-f1.com/news/news_story/16976

Ralf Schumacher will be demoted 10 places on the grid in Hungary for causing
    the first-corner crash in Germany.
Race stewards decided that Schumacher had triggered the accident that
eliminated fellow frontrunners Kimi Raikkonen and Rubens Barrichello as well
as Ralph Firman and Heinz-Harald Frentzen.

Stewards decided that the accident could have been avoided, adding that
Schumacher had "admitted to paying no attention to the position of the other
cars" when he moved wide at the first corner."

Speaking after the race, Schumacher claimed he was not responsible for the
crash. Barrichello and Raikkonen also declared their innocence while McLaren
boss Ron Dennis dismissed it as a racing incident.

Williams have indicated that they intend to appeal against the verdict.

Schumacher is the second driver to be handed such a penalty for dangerous
driving. Sauber's Felipe Massa was punished for an incident with Pedro de la
Rosa at last year's Italian GP and his Sauber team opted to withdraw him
from the following race rather than let him compete with such a handicap.

It is particularly unfortunate for Schumacher that the penalty will be
applied at the Hungaroring. It is notoriously difficult to overtake at the
circuit, which should have suited his Williams.

It's not completely fair that Ralf takes all the heat. Kimi Kar Kruncher had
two wheels on the white line while trying to pass at a time and at a place,
up the outside, where he had no right to do so. If I recall, no one in the
history of F1 has ever won a race on the first turn. Kimi has to learn to
focus on the race in it's entirety instead of the first 300 meters. He's
quickly becoming the most dangerous driver in F1 with his reckless and ill
    conceived passing attempts.

While Ralph is a penis for pinching Rubino, Kimi clinched the deal by trying
to pass up the outside, off the track in turn 1. Typical show of great
talent but deadly inexperience from Kimi Karbon Kaboomer.

Ron Dennis' arse is sucking wind for blaming Rubino and admonishing his
wunderkind. Funny, I don't expect that from a man in Rons position. LOL

No right? Was that bit of track reserved for someone else then?

Wasn't trying to win the race - he had better momentum than Rubens, so
he went for a gap that was *just* big enough. Not what I'd call
    reckless at all.

But this passing attempt would have probably worked if Ralf hadn't
happened, which Kimi had no control over, nor could he have anticipated
Ralf would pull such a careless, bonehead move.

Perfectly legitimate move. I see nothing wrong with what Kimi did.
There was a gap, he took it.

Ralf however, he had half the track width to use. There wasn't a gap
for him on his left, so he decided to make one using his car as a
battering ram. Entirely his fault! Kimi and Rubens are innocent
    victims in this.

Well, Ron is a bit of an arse - Always has been, always will be. ;-)

Did you actually *listen* to what Ron said? And if you listened, did you
    understand?

Ron said that Rubens *initiated* the event... not that he caused it. If
you replay the start you'll see that Rubens did just that.

I disagree, the incident didn't 'initiate' at the start line, it was
initiated at the entry to turn one. The incident was initiated when Ralf
moved left with no regard for the drivers on that side of his car. If he
used that shiny thing called a mirror he would have seen that he had a
    problem.

It must be a near certainty that the appeal is upheld. Ralf was entitled
to move across, and it's not the first time that Rubens has over-cooked
the first corner. He should have backed off when the gap closed.

I don't think it should be....

Kimi was well ahead of Rubens at the point of impact & both were travelling
in more or less a straight line. Who ever heard of backing out when you're
on the outside of the corner? Fine, if RB had been inside Ralf & had over
cooked it & T-boned Ralf off the track then that's another matter - but its
    not what happened.

What happened was that Ralf wandered & meandered across the track to give
himself a better line into the corner. He wasn't trying to defend anything
because, by his own admission, he didn't even know that Rubens (or Kimi)
were there. It was just a very, very poor piece of driving that could have
injured someone quite badly & he deserves to be held accountable for it.

I'd say he got off lightly - a 1 or 2 race ban might have been more
    appropriate

Point taken, but had Ralf said he HAD seen Rubens, was that OK? We've
seen drivers swerve left and right to "defend" their position, so I
couldn't really see what he did wrong (other than check his mirrors)
