OT: Mopar
Just bought a 71 Road Runner tonight. It's a "rolling chassis" - meaning
that there is no engine and tranny. Body is flawless, and has every drop
of chrome trim, bumpers, etc. The 440 is coming out, as is the
Torqueflight 727; and going in is probably going to be a 500 Wedge, a B&M
competition tranny, and a 9" rear end. Will post some "before" photos on
Sunday after I flatbed it home. :-) BTW, it will be a track-only
vehicle.

Hobbes, as I recall, the '71 was a major style change for the Road Runner
and it was a kind of a cross between the Barracuda and the Challenger! Sweet
choice! Way to go man! What did you decide on for the 500 wedge? Who's the
builder? Or is that still up in the air?

9" in a MOPAR? Most use an 8 3/4" MOPAR rear, or a Dana 60. The 8 3/4 is
strong and more efficient than a 9" Ford.
Did you join the MML?

Having never been a Mopar fan, I am not all that sure what it looked like
before 1971. I bought it because it was absolutely perfect and never
wrecked in any way, shape, or form. The Roadrunner is the Satellite with
a different hood. Not sure about the Barracuda or Challenger tho. I think
I am going with the 500 Wedge crate motor from Jegs online, and the B&M
competition tranny. I had thought about the 426 hemi crate from Jegs, but
they want $5K more for that crate and it has less torque and HP. I looked
online to see who else had the 500 wedge and 426 hemi; but every other
reseller of the Mopar crate motors wanted $800 more than Jegs (don't know
why).

I did not know that. Thanks BA. What I did was look online, and Strange
made a 9" unit. I noticed that Mopar was 8 3/4. The rear in it now is 8
1/4. What is the MML?

He will post 100 times per day for a while, but eventually he will go away.
