    Ordering E60 Saturday, need advise!

I'm planning on going to order the new 545i on Saturday, my salesman is
going to S. Carolina to test-drive the new 5 series today. He isn't sure if
he will test-drive the 545, 530 and 525. I was also told delivery won't be
    until the end of November!
    I have 2 questions:
    1) is the price difference of $10,000.00 US worth the increased Horse Power
from 230 in the 530 to 325 in the 545i?
    2) My wife won't drive a 6 speed manual, so I was thinking of getting the 6
    speed steptronic tranny, any thoughts?

    Thanks

Yes the $10k is worth the HP. The 545 will no doubt come with more standard
options as well like a better suspension and some more interior and
performance items. I would recommend the steptronic tranny. While it can be
an auto it provides plenty of fun when in manual, both in city and country
    driving.

Yes, I definitely think the extra HP is worth it. I bought a new 540i a
couple of months ago and wrestled with the same decision. I think I would
have played the "if only" game if I had saved the money. The 540i has
incredible horsepower -- it's a blast to drive. And the new 545's have
another 40 or so HP -- go for it. I also have the steptronic transmission.
Love it. No regrets at all.

I bought my 540ia one year ago this month. My wife wanted a larger
car (we had a 325), and I said I wanted the V8. She said, "Why do you
want all that power." And, I said "Because I can!"

Then, she asked the salesman about the gas mileage. He said to her,
"Lady, you're buying a $60,000 car, and you're worried about gas
    mileage?"

If it has tits or tires, you're gonna have trouble with it.

Depends upon how many opportunities you have to use the power or if you're
compelled to demonstrate you have it to other drivers. The 545 suspension
isn't "better," it's just tuned for the additional weight of the larger
engine. You can equip the 530 to the 545 trim/interior levels with a couple
    options.

OTOH, if the $10K isn't an issue ... you won't have to forgo the Patek for a
Rolex ... what the hell. OTOH, if $10K really ISN'T an issue, why settle
    for a mere bimmer?

Why is your dealer testing driving the car and not you?

The Dealers don't have them in stock yet! They go to the test track to test
out the new vehicles so they can tell you and I about them in the showroom.
I'm sure a car will be in the showroom in the next 4-6 weeks for me to see
and drive. I plan on test driving the new 5 as soon as I can !
