BMW: Ordered 545i today!

Ordered 545i today!
Well, I took the plunge and ordered the 2004 545i ! The dealers are not
doing anything below MSRP at this time. The car came out to $54,445.00 plus
the options which brought it to $62,000 without tax. Maybe I should just buy
a Viper at $82,000 or the 745i for $73,000

You might be able to find 745i s at either a discount for unsold 03s or
sticker for 04s. Quite a bit more car for not much more money. I'd
imagine your dealer would be happy to switch you into existing inventory.

The new 5 series is so ugly that BMW will facelift it in a year or two like the new 7 series
and you will take a big hit in depreciation as a result. Keep your focus objective and wait
for the new 6 series next spring.

Err, isn't the new 6 so ugly they'll face lift it even sooner (I hope).

If you're thinking luxury, then go to the 745i. If you can get by with 2
seats, and you don't want to drop $180,000 on a Modena, then go with the
Z06. I'm driving an S420 Mercedes, and considering moving to BMW for a
bit more performance in a big, luxury barge to carry people around. But my
last car was a C5 Convertible. I'd drive that over any Mercedes or BMW in
a heartbeat, particularly for the money, if I didn't feel the need to carry
more than one passenger at a time around. I just drove a Z06 recently,
and it is phenomenol for the money.

Re: Ordered 545i today!
Congrats...
Personally, I think E60s looks fine. People hate change. The only thing I
am weary of is the Aluminum/Steel bonds holding the front end to the body.
It is a new celebrated technical marvel to lighten the front end. I am sure
people will cite how it is proven for decades in the space industry or some
such thing. Nevertheless, I would hate to find out they cannot fix minor
body dings without a huge hassle.
Here in Vancovuer, if you have a late model Audi A8 (aluminum bodies), to
properly fix it you would have to bring it to Seattle to get the AL body
fixed well. The insurance company will fight to keep cost low and the body
shops will all 'guarantee' the work...but who wants to be the misfortunate
ONE!?!
Styling, handling, and everything else is great. If I had a chunk of
change, and more $$ to spare so if I get into a fender bender, I can just
unload the old for new with some significant 'chipping in $$', I'd get one.
Otherwise, I am happy with my E39, waiting for more dough, and then some
more time to either (a) watch them stabilize the AL/Steel fix a dent
process, (b) have more $$ so I won't care!

Agreed. Or if you need a car right away, you can probably get a deal on a
'03 745i since they are sitting in dealer showrooms due to being so ugly.
Plus the fact that the rear end is getting redesigned for '04 may make the
'03 even cheaper.

OR look at the all new Audi A8L. Absolutely beautiful. People hate UGLY

You people worry WAY to much about how your sheetmetal is bent. Sure,
it's nice to have a pretty car, but the main thing is how it drives.
