    Oil Change cost

I just rerceived a coupon for an oil change from my dealer. It says
"Change Oil and Filter for $29.95". What is the usual cost for this
service, as I plan on taking it to a different dealer? I'll try to get
them to honor this coupon. It never hurts to ask. : )

$29.95 seems very reasonable. You didn't specify your geographic
location (Michigan != New York != California) but your NNTP-Posting-Host
header combined with nslookup makes me think you're in Lansing. The
Lansing Hyundai dealer charges about $33 after tax for an oil change
    without a coupon.

Yes, my fault, I should have stated my location. Actually, you were
close. I'm in the metro Detroit area. I guess $33 isn't too bad. I
used to do all my own oil changes until I became disabled, now I'm at
the mercy of the local dealers/mechanics. Thanks for the tip.

The normal cost for changing the oil and replacingthe filter is about
$16 USD for standard and ~$30 for synthetic. I just got a coupon in
the mail from Tires Plus that is for $13.95.

    re: oil changes et cetera

    10. if the discount car wash place with every oil change doesn't really have an
hyundai oil filter of the correct kind, then that doesn't really bother the d
bs, because they'll install whatever theyve got (as they apparently did to mine
    once)

    9. don't maintain it, if it ain't broke, because they (service dept) may f it
up--it happens, folks, but i don't really endorse not jumping thru the warranty
    required hoops, so nevermind

    8. yeah there's that highly touted castrol SAE 5W-50, but what about when i
just get your bulk crappy stuff from the 50 gallon drum?

    7. it's a jungle out here (in case you're oblivious to ordinary reality)

    6. hey, i betcha hyundai repair-persons often fantasize about having smaller
    fingers

    5. there are so many hyundai service dealers near me that i only have to go
about 80+ miles round trip per visit

    4. it's a nice car, especially for the money, but nobody can pronounce it
    without thinking he's a lingo boob-rube

    3. prediction that a few other daewoo buying suckers will appreciate:

at some future time, hyundai buys-out general motors, and bankrupts 'em only in
    south korea

    2. well, as steve martin doesn't exactly disclaim, it's not a forrrrrrrddddd

    1. BIG EXISTENTIAL QUESTION ABOUT THE FUTURE: if they ever market a spiffy
nifty pick-up truck, will they put a cassette or a c.d. in the dashboard as
    standard?

The dealer in my area charges $26.49 without a coupon. They do have a
deal though where you can buy 10 oil changes for $120.

I forgot to add that my dealer will change my oil with the Hyundai
Filter for $12 if I supply the oil. I use Synthetic but if you were
just using conventional oil then you would come out at about $17 for a
    dealer change.
