Oil Change in 2004 Toyota Sienna
How do you change the oil filter in the 2004 Sienna? It is located under a
hot manifold, and if you warm the car up prior to changing the oil, it is
hot. What method do you use to change the oil filter? Also, do you change
the washer on the oil plug each time?

So warm it up and put drain bucket under the engine oil sump
and let it drain for an hour -- by then the mainfold will be
cold and you can remove the filter. Although most filters
have antidrain back valves they often seem to drain back so
it would be less messy to change filter then too. From
factory the filters always seem difficult to get off the
first time. I just keep extra washer and reuse old til it
cracks or leaks.

If it's the generic 6 cyl engine, get a new oil filter and you'll see it can
take an oil filter socket wrench over the end. Go to an autoparts store with
the filter and find the correct size socket. Then use you're regular socket
set drive and extension to remove the filter.
