Formula 1: Oh, BTW, Montoya Won The Race

Oh, BTW, Montoya Won The Race
Lost in all the RS and MS bashing is the fact that JPM drove a brilliant
race, and won by a large margin. It was a perfect drive. He has 50pts in
the last 6 races, which 17 more than RS and MS, 2 wins, 3 2nd places, and
1 3rd place. He's now become MS's main challenger, as many had hoped when
came to F1 3 years ago.
So, how about a little kudos for JPM? And where are all the bashers now?
He's a legitimate WDC contender, why is no one talking about him?

What is there to talk about? He won because he's an outstanding talent
in the best car on the best tyres for the day. And because his
qualifying position put him where he would be unaffected by any
first-corner shenanigans.
For me the driver of the day was Coulthard. Second place in a car which
would be hard-put to be in the top 6.

A typical Ralf race for Monty. Didn't have to do much just keep it on
the road. Well done.
Well it helps when 3 out of the 6 goes out and yes he did actually get
past Trulli. :-p
But yeah, a damn good drive for DC none the less.

now?
One thing that surprised me about JPM after his awesome drive, was how
laid back, cool and sweat free he was in the press conference, the
others looked knackered and rightly so (Trulli so knackered he wasnt
there)
Even MS is starting to look tired after races.

This exact comment could describe most '02 races that MS won. Funny when he
does it, it's talent, when it's anyone else, it's the car/tyres.
For once Williams nailed their race strategy. JPM drove that thing like he
was posessed .... tyres/strategy aside, he was overwhelmingly quicker than
anyone else.

He also put a great move on Webber, and switched strategy at just the right
moment, ie. the first pitstop, when everyone else was still 3 stopping.

Driver of the day was Trulli. Drove the wheels off his Renault.
Seeing that Kimi qualified 5th in it and drove it to a podium finish in
Silverstone while DC finished 5th, I'd say the car is quite capable of a
top 6 finish.
