That was your "if", now answer mine: Would Scummy's tire
have blown if DC hadn't been pressuring him from behind?
Think of Hakkinen vs. Scummy at Spa in 1999. As soon as
Hakkinen made his hori-Zonta-l move, Scummy backed off to
save the tires. Scummy sans Coulthard would have had no
pressure from behind and could have better preserved the
car; the tire blowup might have been averted.
No, switch to rolling starts. Maybe DC is the Paul Tracy
of F1, never a champ but always close.

Yep, but he pointed out that he didn't have to deal with constant pressure
the whole race... so I guess he didn't have to exert himself mcuh. Scary
thing is, he said he had lost a little top speed due to a problem with the
car, and he was STILL 2 seconds a lap quicker than the field on many
occassions. Yikes.

A lot of us could have posted and said "Yea! Juan rules!"
over and over, but it's more fun to rub the Ferrari and
Shoe bros. trolls noses in it.

Like I said when he first entered into F1, JPM will make it
interesting. If his car doesn't break, he's a good racer.
Aggressive , yes. But fair. It's nice to see him in a good car at long
last.

<piggybacking>
More anti-CART smugness? Some "there's nobody good out of
South America after Senna" nonsense? Who knows.
Who else in F1 is used to those temperatures and dryness
except the Boys from Brazil (and Colombia, of course)?
No surprise. He's in the equally best car now, not *the*
best. Barrichello can keep up, so why can't Scummy?
Answer: the pressure is getting to him.
For all and sundry, don't count out McLaren just yet. DC
did very well, and we can't say Raikkonen wouldn't have
performed equally well (witness his results in the heat of
Australia, Malaysia, and Brazil).
If McLaren score 18 points in each of the final four races
and Raikkonen wins two of them, then he and the team win
the drivers' and constructors' titles regardless of other
drivers' results. With Scummy Jr., Barrichello, and the
Renault drivers keeping points from Scummy Sr. and Montoya,
McLaren could take the titles with lesser results.
