Lexus: Odd Noise

Odd Noise
SWMBO drives a 2001 RX-300. I had to take it to work recently, and heard
the strangest sound coming from the passenger side dash at the floor. With
the ignition in the start position, engine running or not, a sound much like
a loud hard drive being accessed repeatedly is heard at the passengers left
foot. It sounds like a small servo operating an in irregular interval, but
it doesn't stop until the ignition is turned off. I thought it was the CD
changer, but that's not it. What system is located in this area that could
be making this sound? We'll take it to the dealer in the next few days, and
I'll report their findings. In the mean time, anyone care to guess?
TIA.

Re: Odd Noise
Maybe an air door (for climate control system) or its servomotor.

Re: Odd Noise
Someday someone is going to conduct a study of sociopathic behavior among
people who regularly post to newsgroups. Someone asks a simple question,
and almost invariably someone out there takes that as an opportunity to make
a derogatory, often times sexually oriented comment. Newsgroups seem to
attract a significant population of demented individuals looking for an
outlet for their sexual frustration, their societal hatred, their paranoia,
or perhaps their intolerable loneliness and emptiness. These sad
individuals seem to thrive on pathetic attempts to anonymously lash out at
others. What pleasure or joy can be had in these impotent attempts at
garnering attention for one's self? It boggles the mind. It makes me feel
truly sorry for people who are unable to engage in meaningful conversation,
and can only contribute with expletives and sexual innuendo. "Mad Fan", I'm
sorry that your life has not offered you opportunites to find true meaning.
Newsgroup behavior is, indeed fertile ground for psychological /
sociological studies. Anyone working on a thesis out there? Here's your
field of study!
The noise, by the way, turned out to be the damper servo motor going bad.
