    nRoute Uninstall

Does anyone know how to uninstall nRoute v2.4? I can not find any
removal or uninstall instructions, there is no built-in uninstall
feature and it is not listed in Add Remove Programs in the Control
    Panel. Running XP.

I need to remove it to troubleshoot an issue with my Mapsource v 6.5 not
doing realtime tracking as it has done flawlessly prior to a couple of
months ago....(that was the last Mapsource version to do realtime tracking).

    Thanks in advance.

Here running XPpro and nRoute is listed in my Control Panel Add/Remove
    list. Perhaps you overlooked it?

Don't know how you got into that situation and I have not personally
installed nRoute but if it used Installshield or Windows Installer and
you run the installation again, you should get three options - repair,
    reinstall, and remove.

D0000H! Of course! Reinstall the nRoute and then uninstall. Now I
should have thought about that. Boy, my CRS is getting worse. Thanks
everyone! While at it I think I'll just remove Mapsource RR, City, and
my Bluecharts and start all over again. Its raining all day today and
what a better task than that. :-)

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    Gents,

Just an update. I know some of you may find this
    interesting...otherwise just blow it away.

    Latest status 4 June 06....

Updated nRoute to v.2.6, or whatever the latest version, from Garmin
website and it did show up on my laptop under "add/remove software". It
definately was not there before with v.2.4 installed. Instead of
removing the s/w immediately, I booted up and connected my gps with
Belkin adapter and guess what? It did not recognize the driver OR ANY
COM PORT!. Nor did it connect to my SeaClearII or Mapsource.

Tried to reinstall the Belkin driver s/w without success. Uninstalled
nRoute and battery died on laptop. I know this is not going to be a
    good day.

Recharged battery. Uninstalled then reinstalled Belkin USB s/w and it
recognized the com 5 port. Also, when I then connected the USB
connector, XP dinged me re: new hardware, which indicated it was a
serial ball mouse. I disabled that in device manager to prevent the
jerky cursor syndrome which we discussed in prior messages.

SeaClear II works OK again in active tracking mode. MapSource v.6.5
recognizes the GPS in static mode but still not in active tracking mode
in either Garmin or NMEA data mode. Recall, v.6.5 does active
tracking. I suspect nRoute does some s/w magic to Mapsource v.6.5,
perhaps aborting its capability to do active tracking like Garmin did to
    v.6.7.

Looks like Garmin nRoute also worms into the USB software further than
wanted. After thinking about this for some time, I believe I loaded the
first version of nRoute after my last Fall delivery but never really
used it in active tracking mode. So I did not find the issue until this
Spring during my first delivery. Dumb thing to do....not validating
functionality of your tools after making a change. Although backup to
house nav equipment, it could have been an issue if there was a primary
    instrument failure.

Guess I will call the software "nRoute version POS".

Next in the saga will be to uninstall all Garmin MapSource, RR, City
Select, and Blue Chart s/w and start all over again.

    Re: nRoute Uninstall

Final status on inability to actively track on Mapsource v.6.5.....

Uninstalled all Mapsource applications and reloaded without nRoute
version POS. Interestingly, there were components that remained behind
as I discovered once I rebooted that each application MapSource v6.5,
CS, and RR remembered my unlock codes. BlueChart tho', did require me
    to reinput my codes.

Happy boy trots outside and fires up the laptop and GPS. SeaClear II
boots and actively tracks....once I set the GPS to NMEA data stream.
Mapsource v.6.5 fails to track. MapSource does recognize my GPS as I can
still ul and dl tracks and routes. Happy boy not so happy with this
conundrum. Way too many hours spent on this issue. It is not the NMEA
data setting as MapSource will connect with either Garmin or NMEA data
    streams.

Go into "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" problem solving
mode. Sit crosslegged in grass and think abit. After a moderate state
of calm returns, I open the GPS tab in MapSource and click the "Select
Device" button. It's set for Com 3...my original com port setting. As
mentioned in my last message, when I reinstalled the Belkin USB s/w it
had established a connection on com 5. I selected com 5 and active
    tracking was restored. Yo!

It appears that my original setting of com 3 was changed when I
reinstalled my Belkin USB s/w. It may have been the original problem
all along. It is really unusual that I could still connect to the GPS
and do dls and uls of tracks and routes though.

There you go guys. I hope some of this trash helps you in the future if
you run into the same issue.

    Capt T.
