Toyota Camry: No difference between Daytime Running Lights and Low Beams

No difference between Daytime Running Lights and Low Beams
Hi,
Just bought a '99 XLE last month, great car. However, I've noticed it
has very poor headlighting, but now I realize the low beam output is
exactly the same as the daytime running light (DRL) output.
Could it be that the Low Beams aren't actually working? The car has
automatic on headlights when it gets dark out, but the only difference I
notice between low beam and DRL is that with the low beams the dashboard
lights are also on.
I always thought that when DRL used headlights they usually used a lower
output level than low beams, that's why I'm getting confused.
Comments?

Not always the case AND not all cars utilize the low beams as the
DRLs. Some use the high beams at slightly reduced voltage (Saturns)
or use the front turn signals on -bright- (Corvette).
I got fed up with that DRL stuff early on with my 2003 Corolla so....
I followed the Toyota approved method to deactivate BOTH the DRLs and
the automatic headlight (Twilight) feature.

Having won that battle, I've moved onto others. Like the case here,
recently, where 2 people NOT wearing seat belts were ejected and killed in a
rollover accident. The owner of the trucking company whose semi hit the SUV
that rolled over, even BEFORE a civil case, paid off the deceasecs' family.
If they HAD been belted in, in that particular accident, they would probably
escaped with a bruise or two.
Now, the trucker, with a million miles previously safely driven, is screwed.
After a hung jury in his first trial, he is being dragged back into court
again. Canadian justice is FUCKED.

Nrm, it does, it has an inline resistor on the 99, see it by the wiper
motor area? Now its possible it may use the high beam headlamps with the
resistor for the DRL's

Inasmuch as the Democrats are complaining on how long the war is taking,
consider this:
It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno to take the
Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.
It took less time to find Saddam's sons in Iraq than it took Hillary
Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.
It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to
destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Teddy Kennedy to call
the police after his Oldsmobile sunk at Chappaquiddick.
It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in
Florida! TWICE!!!!!
Damn our military is GREAT!!
