    New Jeep Owner

I'd like to check in and announce myself. I recently bought a gem of a 86
Cherokee Chief, 2.8L V6, in great condition. High miles, 220k+, but that
doesn't bother me. My daily driver is an Aerostar with 380k! I've always
wanted a Cherokee and when this deal came up, I couldn't resist. Could you
for $150? It's got the traditional valve cover leak, which is easily fixed.
I recently took the Cherokee through its gears and checked for
strange sounds, none. In all ranges it just purrs along. Climbs great! I'm
now building a list of mods I'd like to do, but first things first.

I scheduled the Cherokee for a complete lubricant drain and fill. Tranny,
diffs, transfer case, yaddah yaddah. However, before I could get it to the
service bay, it wouldn't start. According to the threads I've read, it
sounds like the crank position sensor. The engine cranks great, but it feels
like no spark. Started great the day before with 4-5 starts during the
course of the day. Now naddah!

Question: Am I on the right track? Can't quite do a spark check as I'm the
lone stranger here and can't position the plug wire so I can see it. If the
symptoms do sound like a CPS, where is it and is there any precautions I
should be aware of before I start. Any help would be appreciated.
Regardless, I'm happy to finally have my Cherokee.
