Honda: New Honda CRV or Subaru Outback?

New Honda CRV or Subaru Outback?
Hi.
My Subaru Outback was totaled last Saturday but I escaped without a scratch.
Withstood a head-on on the driver's side from a truck at 45 mph - incredible
job!
Now I need a new car and am considering the same Outback or a CRV.
Never owend a Honda before although I am aware of the safety records and
quality.
What consistent problems exist from Honda should I be made aware of? All
cars and all models have issues and I'm just trying to get a "feel" for what
I may face.
Regards.

You've proven the safety of the Outback, right? I say, go with what you
know.
Honda quality is superb. But then, Subaru has a good record, too.
You're likely to get better gas mileage out of a new Sub than the CRV.
With gas touching two bucks a gallon...
On the CRV? Nothing, really. The stereos suck; that's a Honda
trademark.

I've owned Hondas and Subarus in the last few years. I narrowed my
decision to a 2003 Forester or CRV. 2 excellent vehicles, highly rated,
and the only way to choose is to drive and see what you like better.
One might feel better than the other to you. The CRV has a higher rear
storage area and lower rear entry (since the spare tire is mounted
outside). Mileage is about the same. The Subaru drives more like a
car, is lower to the ground. They both get about the same mileage (give
or take 1 mpg), and both have the same horsepower (give or take 5hp).
2 solid vehicles. You can't make a bad choice between the 2.
BTW-I chose the CRV, but the Subaru was a very close 2nd.
