New 2004 Toyora Camry
The Canadian website www.toyota.ca has posted the stats and figures of
the new Camry and the all-new Camry Solara sports coupe. I was
surprised that the new Camry V6 has been changed drastically with a
raise in horsepower. The LE version gets a 210 HP V6 and 225 foot
pounds of torque engine whereas the XLE trim will be getting a V6 3.3
L with an astonishing 240 foot pounds of torque with a 225 HP engine!
There are more options available on low end inline 4 cylinder models
such as leather heated seats and 8-way remote controlled seat adjuster
and a multi function display for average speed, miles left etc. The
Camry Solara with an all new sporty look gets the V6 225 HP and 240
foot pounds of torque engine whereas the four cylinder has the
standard Camry 157 HP engine. Looks like they are trying to get ahead
of Honda Accord. Their biggest foe.

Honda has already announced bigger engines. Nissan already has a bigger V6
(240hp I believe) for the Altima.

Drive the different cars and see if you notice a difference. These are
advertised numbers only. The power to the wheel is through the
transmission , so you need to look at the engine/transmission
combination, not just the advertised Hp. A good example of this is the
four cylinder Nissan Altima, which advertises 175 Hp. Drive one and a
four cylinder Camry rated at 157 Hp, then decide if it has more power
than the four cylinder Camry rated at 157 Hp.
