Formula 1: Nationality of drivers...

Nationality of drivers...
Oh, God, I will get trashed in RASF1 for this, save me...
Refer to the following listing in f1racing.net
of yesterday's German Grand Prix.
<selected from listing at http://www.f1racing.net/>
2 D. Coulthard Scotland McLaren +1.05.459
8 J. Button England BAR +1
15 J. Wilson Great Britain Jaguar +61
20 R. Firman Great Britain Jordan +67
<end selection>
What is the basis of categorising a driver's nationality?
I though England, Wales and Scotland form Great Britain and
GB along with Northern Ireland form UK. Here Wilson is
listed differently (both English?) from Button. And Firman, I
thought was Irish is listed in GB.
Is it a mistake in the web site or is there some other explanation?
Thanks
Sree

As a rule - when Coulthard does well, usually he's classified as British.
When he's playing silly buggers - and doing crap - he's considered scottish

In article <com>,
net says...
But Wilson can't be held responsible for that. I'm sure he tries to keep
it quiet. (-:

I'm not entirely sure. This was discussed here a few months ago but I
didn't read all the posts. I think that someone mentioned that one of
his grand parents is/was "real Irish" and I'm fairly sure that the
Firman family are involved in a lot of racing in Ireland. Firman was
born in Norwich but I have no idea where his parents were born.
Thing is, if he is half Pom half Irish, does that make him Posh or Irom?

Oh? And when Mansell was doing well, he was British. When he was doing
badly, he was British. Him being English was hardly ever mentioned...
And, perhaps more notably, what about Williams, McLaren, Lotus etc. etc.
These are *always* referred to as British teams - if any were based in
Scotland I'm sure they'd be called Scottish at least some of the time
(and probably *most* of the time)...
Sometimes the moaning about this sort of thing can be very selective
IMO :-(
