    Motor Swap

I am swapping a dead 4.0 litre fuel injected 1990 Cherokee for a 4.2 Litre
carbureted from a 1989 YJ. Looks like a clean swap. The Cherokee has 2
fans, one a clutch type running on the motor and one electric fan. . Any
    tips or tricks. Cheers Rob
    ..

    try here: cjoffroad.com

Good pointers there, plus good knowledge base. Most people go from the 4.2
to the 4.0. Never heard of anyone going the other way. It can be done. I
wouldn't do it. 4.0 is a much better engine. I just yanked the 4.2 out of my
CJ and made it the boat anchor it was destined to become. The 4.0 is sitting
on the stand waiting for me to get off my lazy butt.

    AMEN to that!
The 4.0 motors are pretty much bulletproof if maintained well, and they
can't be beat when it comes to power versus mileage (as far as Jeeps go).
    The 4.2 is just ok.
