Striker 68...
I've been a Garmin E-map user (have 3 E-Maps) for 3 years....
Have 32, 64, & 128 Map memory cards installed..
I've recorded many 2000 point Track logs on Garmin units
and displayed the 'yellow' track on my PC using the
Garmin MapSource software with the purchased Garmin maps....
It tells me in detail exactly where my truck or snowmobile has
been....
Including speed and altitude.... From the active track log...
In your case.. You have 8 MB of map memory.... In a small town
or countryside this is OK for mapping... In a Big city
you may run off the detailed Map... But your track log can
still be collected & 'laid over' your PC map display with the
Yellow line...
For up to date streets in USA... Metroguide USA Ver 4 or 5 will
have the most city street detail.. It takes more 'city' map
memory per sq mile due to both more streets & more 'Find' pit
stop businesses... Road & Rec takes 5 times less map memory
per square mile... But here Roads are 10 years out of date, have
few street names listed, and only Geographical Pit Stops noted.
Now for your PC... Apples are not made for Garmin maps...
You need a CD drive, Garmin RS-232 cable for map/waypoint/
track data transfer... decent CPU memory & a 10GB disk to
if you wish to transfer the MAP CD data to the Hard Drive
and have space for the PC Operating System etc.....
This makes for faster/painless Map Viewing & Tracklog viewing.
A color Ink jet printer allows for nice color prints of your
'yellow' track route displayed on your Garmin map.
I'm not an expert on using your Legend to plot in Real Time
on your laptop.... I'll guess it can be done 'easily'??

Accurate
MetroGuide, with the NavTech data, as a general rule, are the most
accurate and up to date maps available. Of course there are exceptions to
this.
