    Maserati Coupe or Spider

    Anyone here have one?

I'm suddenly seeing them on the road: What's it like?

    Re: Maserati Coupe or Spider

I am considering an Aston or Maserati purchase soon. I test drove a
2005 Maserati Coupe Cambiocorsa. I wasn't very impressed with the
traction control. The V8 had pretty good pull through the RPM's.
Interior was nice. I still favor the Aston. Much nicer car...but also
    higher cost.

Not that it matters all that much, but the Maserati also looks like it
would get "lost" in the parking lot. Similar to the 612 Scag. Nice
body design, yet a little to refined, or is it unrefined. Then again,
I drive a 92 Testarossa. So I'm one of "those" Ferrari owners.

What fun is traction control on the street? Of course, if I didn't need
it, I would never use a paddle-shifter either.

Not by me. The Trident has leaped out at me any number of times lately.

Very true. I walked right by a 612 and several Masers in the parking
lot at Hockenheim. Didn't notice them the first time and only caught
the 612 on the way back when i saw the cheesy shields on it. I'd
certainly notice it on the road, but the front end is unexceptional.

As for the Masers, I see a fair number of them here in Socal. More Qs
showing up now. I see that the 20,000th Maser just rolled off the line
since the relauch. Needless to say that's a little behind their sales
target, they were supposed to be at 10,000 units per year by 2005.

I've only driving an early Coupe and wasn't impressed. I know they have
improved, but their resale value certainly hasn't. I'll never forget
what the Maserati salesman at the Auto Gallery said to me when I asked
how was the used Maserati market. His response was "there isn't one".

    Aston, "nicer"? How so?

Some have said, I find it elegant, yet with a powerful presence on the
    road.

    ?! "Scag"?!

    Yes. ...Another fashion victim.

I think the front end it the bit most worth saving, the way the fender

And somehow there's even a touch of 250 GTB in the rear end,
impossibly and a little incongruously in the great hulking beast.

Just lose the side scoops and shields and we have a deal.

    How so?

I see new ones going for 20% off.

I know one of the magazines previewed the 2006 - based on the 4-porte,
bigger fatter heavier - because they make subsequent reference to it,
but I can't remember which nor find the source...

I kinda like the side scoops, but hate the shields. The 612 is yet
another new Ferrari that took awhile to grow on me...

    Yeah, do tell.

It was an early 3200 GT. The power was very On/Off even for a turbo.
The gearbox was ragged (this was a car with about 7000 km on it) and i
missed a few shifts with it (no comments here about my driving
ability!). I don't want to be that concerned about shifting a modern
car (I expect it in a forty year old car!). It does take the joy out of
driving. The handling was ok, but not great. A alot more mid corner
understeer than I would have expected (certainly I would have expected
some, but not that much). I was also struck by the poor build quality.
Shabby detail work, warning lights coming on and off, etc. Again
this was an early car and I know that much has changed (the motor being
the biggest change), so, with a sample size of one, I wasn't thrilled.
I'll have to go drive another one and report back..

A cursory review of his posting history shows the troll nature of his
posts. The big issue with the Testarossa is that it was built FOR
Americans specifically. It's actually an honour of sorts for him to
"Not Get It". He's not supposed to like it.

And as far as criticising...I also own a 2002 Viper with a Roe
supercharger. The F_Klan simply cannot stand that car. I love to see
the bashing around the Viper and the incorrect notion it has a "truck"
motor in it. The truck has a Viper motor children. But backwards is
    as backwards does...
