Lowrance announces the iFINDER Pro and iFINDER Pro+
Lowrance has announced the iFINDER Pro

Re: Lowrance announces the iFINDER Pro and iFINDER Pro+
Interesting. I figured something was up since the prices had dropped
considerably on the iFinder. As near as I can tell about the only difference
is the screen resolution and 16 versus 4 levels of greyscale. No color and
still not waterproof.

difference
Dual processors and 100 saveable tracks of 100000 points each may make a
difference as well.

Good eye and bad typing ;-)
It's 100 saveable tracks, 10.000 points each. In any case, it's a lot. They
had to increase the internal memory in the Pro - the regular iFinder can
save 10 tracks of 10.000 points. Hmm, that's what the spec says but, in
reality, it can have more than 10 tracks if they are shorter. I think that
the limit is 100.000 points total, no more than 10.000 per track. If the
same applies to the iFinder Pro, than the limit would be 1.000.000 track
points, no more than 10.000 per track. And, this is the internal memory
only! On the card, you can save as many files with tracks as the card will
hold... Now, I really, really, really hope that Lowrance finally added the
time stamp to the track record. IMHO the lack of the timestamp in the track
is the biggest shortcoming of the original iFinder. Hope that they got it
right for the "Pro"!

I asked them that in an email a few days ago and just got their reply:
Question:
I notice the new iFinder Pro has greatly expanded tracklog capabilities.
Will the trackpoints include time/date stamps and elevation data or just
lat/long data?

Gotta love that response. We don't have enough information to actually tell
you anything, but that doesn't mean we won't put detailed, if not incorrect,
information on our web site.
