    Love my Sonata

    Hello All,
I have been posting here since before I purchased my Sonata (while
doing research on it) and have asked several questions and they have
all been answered in a timely and friendly manner. I want to thank
each and every one of the responders for all their help.

    Now for my latest inquiries;
1.Did the salesman inform me correctly when he said the car was all
waxed and doesn't need waxing for a year?

    2. Does my car have "Clear Coat"? In my last few cars, that was an
option and they tried to sell it. This salesman didn't try to sell it,
    so maybe it is standard?

    3. What is the best wax to use on my silver Sonata?

    4. Did the car come with undercoating? Another thing they usually try
to tack on that wasn't even mentioned. If it doesn't, since I live in
wintery, salty Michigan, should I get it undercoated and if so are
there any recommendations which service is the best?

    Thank You All.

    J.W.

    1. Your salesman was correct. You shouldn't have to do anything to the
paint for at least a year.

    2. You probably have clearcoat paint, but that may depend on your color.
In the event you don't, nothing needs to be done. This is not a
    worthwhile add-on item.

    3. Check your manual for paint care instructions. My newest car is a
1992, so I haven't checked into this on newer cars. Your Owner's manual
should give you all the details you need.

    4. The cars have undercoating on them from the factory, but I know things
can be harsh in Michigan. Someone from a region which uses road salt more
often can probably answer the question as to the value of additional
    undercoating better than I.

    1. No. You should get a good coat of wax on. I would use a detailing clay
first and than a coat of carnuba wax. You should wax atleast twice a year.
    2. Most likely you have clear coat. It is not a dealer option. Clear coat is
applied over the paint at the factory. You may be thinking of a paint
protection coating from the dealer, it's way overpriced and definately not
    worth it.
    3. Meguiar's NXT or Collinite 476. The Collinite is the longest lasting. If
you apply it in say Oct, it will last through the winter.
    4. Yes it's undercoated.
