    Lifting a TJ

FINALLY!!!, after about ten years of waiting I bit the bullet and bought a
2000TJ sport. While I love the vehicle as it is Jeeps are made, not
bought....so since the purchase on Saturday I have been feverishly hitting
every 4x4 website trying to decide exactly what I want to do. The first and
second things are lift and tires. I'd like to go 3-3.5" higher and run
31-33" tires. Can anyone please make some recommendations, I've seen a lot
on Rubicon Express and heard great things about BDS and Teraflex. Can't
wait to get started! Anyone know any good trails in SC?

    Re: Lifting a TJ

I just lifted my 97 TJ using a budget 4" lift from Rocky Road Outfitters. I
would not recommend this route nor would I recommend that company. I would
say to go with RE or TF or another company that sells a non-budget lift kit.
I ended up buying more parts to make this one work.

Also, you'll most likely need a slip yoke eliminator for the rear drive
shaft to avoid vibrations. That part set me back $900 since I didn't want
to do that job myself. I did all the rest of it and I have about 16 hours
in it at this point. I'm not super proficient at wrenching but I can follow
most directions. It is a simple task to install a lift, but not an easy
    one. A friend would help.

I would also recommend Bob Supplee for your parts. He is in Oklahoma and
was great to work with on some of the extra parts. He does not have a web
site however, but you can call him.

    Good luck,

BDS makes a very good and reliable lift kit taht won't break the bank.

Plus they have a life time warrantee that's hard to beat. Whichever way you
    go good luck with it.
