Liberty - What do ya'll think of them?

I am thinking of buying a Liberty.
What is the general opinion of this little rig?

I need something smallish, 4wd that seats at least 4.

    TIA

I love mine. Its a great small SUV - rugged enough to handle running
around the farm and the occasional mud holes and ice storms we have in
SEMO, but its also comfortable and nice enough for road trips or taking
customers out on crop tours. The 6 cylinder is surprisingly peppy - I
have as much acceleration in my Liberty as I had in my Explorer with a
V8. And the turning radius is great.

My only complaint after putting 35000 miles on mine is that the back
seats don't fold flat. Its not as good at hauling large objects as it
    could be.

FWIW, I'm curious to hear about the diesel Liberty. If they make it
through their first year without problems, I may consider an 06 or 07 for
    my next vehicle.

As a Jeeper, I can't stand them. As a smallish, practical SUV, they are
great. I spent a few hours in the back seat of a Liberty, and it was pretty
    comfortable, rode well, and quiet.

I posted a video in alt.binaries under "Liberty Video". Check it out.

Its all a matter of what you want. I pick my vehicles for function,
utility, economy, comfort, safety, and convenience. I don't really care if
it says Jeep, Dodge, Ford, GMC, or Carls Cool Cars.

In my '96 Cherokee, the back seat is removable ... maybe the Liberty's is
    too?

    Thanks Barry. All good information!

    Hye Carl,
I have owned three CJs. Some time ago though.
They were a lot of fun.
I have owned a Bronco II and an Explorer sport, and am seriously thinking of
trading in my city car in for something more in tune with my lifestyle these
days. I miss having 4WD that ISN'T a 3/4 ton diesel bigazzed ol truck.

I'd love to look at the video, but in the rural area I am in in west
Tennessee, all I can get is dialup and it takes hours to download
    everything.

Personally, I have always loved the small SUVs. When they came out with the
    big ones, I was overwhelmed.

I just want something with some spunk, that's easy on the eye, comfy, 4wd,
and seats 4 comfortably without needing a mammoth area to park it or turn
it. Oh, and that doesn't; cost half a house.

To clarify, when the bench part is flipped up so the back can be folded
down, the bench can be removed (or not) ...

Unfortunately not, at least not in any convenient way.
