BMW: Identifying BMW Options

    Identifying BMW Options

Hi, I'm just looking at buying my first BMW. Probably a used 2000 328i or
323i. And I have an interesting delemma. I found a nice BMW at a Honda
dealer, but they don't really have any idea about the options, and they
certainly don't list them in BMW terms. They list things like power
steering, power brakes, power windows, air conditioning. Duh! And then
other things like alloy wheels and leather interior.

There are two particular options that I'm interested in : Sport Package and
Premium Sound. So my question is, how can I identify if the car has these
    options?

For example, could the car have alloy wheels and sport seats but not
actually have the full Sport Package? Probably.....so how can I tell?

I guess another way could be if a BMW dealer could look up a VIN number and
find out what options the car came with from the factory. Does anyone know
    if this is possible?

    Thank for any suggestions,
    /\/\ark

The Premium Sound (Harmon-Kardon) has a bass boost/equalizer switch
on the panel in front of the gear shift lever.

The sport seats come *only* with the package.

Actually, anyone can do that - go to bmwna.com, get into the "owners circle"
(you may have to create an account) and type in the VIN.

Hi, thanks for the tip on the web site....but unfortunately, it didn't work.
The web address you provided doesn't seem to exist, but I went to BMWUSA and
went through the "owner's circle" there. I typed the VIN number and it said
that the number wasn't in it's database. I wonder if it only works for US
    cars? I'm in Canada.

But thanks anyway, it was a good idea.

I tried this as well. Had to go t obmwusa.com tho. I have a USA BMW.
I registered, entered my VIN, and it found my car and alls it said was
the model and paint. I could not find anywhere to find out options
that my 1997 bmw 528i was built with. Any help or guidance would be
    appreciated.

Same here. Color, year, and model. Could not even d/l the manual for
    a 1998 528i, kinda lame.

Do you guys know for this model what the sport package includes? 17
inch wheels I imagine? Any ground effects or engine mods?

    Thanks

    Erick
