Corvette: I had a sony combo surround:

It had the sovy combo ( dvd/vcr ) 4 satilite speakers and the cheap non powered
sub. It burned out after about 1-1/2 years, took it to a shop to be fixed ( its
been a little over a year now and I haven't seen it yet ). went out and bought
a pioneer amp and hooked it up to a 50 watt polk audio sub and 5 Klipcsh
speakers and I don't care if I ever see that combo sony again. They make
excellent high end tvs I have a 40 XBR and it is fantastic! good luck.
